‘A gentle giant will be sadly missed’

Western Cape Cricket today mourns the loss of Board member Mr Nathan Cupido who passed away on Saturday.

A Western Cape Cricket board member for the past 8 years, Mr Cupido was also a member of Cricket Boland’s member’s council for the past 9 years and was a director on the Cricket Boland board and the Chair of the Cricket committee at the time of his passing.

Angelo Carolissen, Chairman of the Western Cape Cricket Board expressed his deep sadness of the passing of “a man who was more than a friend, he was like a brother to me.”

“He was always calm in the boardroom and always saw a way to resolve any issues. We have lost a dedicated and committed administrator. It is a great loss for Boland and Western Cape cricket.”

“On behalf of the Board, the Cape Cobras squad and administrative staff, we offer the Cupido family our deepest sympathies during this sad time.”

“Nathan, in his calm way in dealing with testing issues, made a huge contribution on the board of Western Cape Cricket. He was a typical, loyal, old-school administrator with firm principles who put the game of cricket first,” Albertus Kennedy, interim CEO of Western Cape Cricket commented.

“A gentle giant will be sadly missed,” he concluded.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
