Visiting the home of the Cape Cobras and one of the world’s most beautiful cricket stadiums should definitely be on your agenda. Your guided tour, under the ever-watchful eye of Table Mountain, will provide a thrilling behind-the-scenes glimpse of Newland’s history and famous landmarks. See the President’s Suite, visited by world-famous politicians and celebrities, or view the ground from the elegant South Club – arguably the best position from which to watch a match and the area where the scorers are based.
Wander around the grass embankments, locally known as the Snake Pit and the Oaks. Visit the practice facilities and nets on the B-field. View the player’s dressing room and the Media Centre. Take in Western Province cricket’s rich history in the Long Room in the Western Province Cricket Club. Tread gently as you take your first steps on the hallowed main field. Visit the memorial scoreboard and the third umpire’s booth. Before you leave, pick up some memorabilia at the Newlands Cricket Shop.
