NEWLANDS – As preparations for the new season is underway, World Sports Betting Western Province Men are looking to bolster the squad for the 2024/25 season.

One of those ways saw Head Coach Salieg Nackerdien adding All-Rounder Abdallah Bayoumy to the Western Province Men contract list for the 2024/25 season after a stellar first season.

After making his T20 debut for the SA U/19 team during their division 2 title winning campaign in 2022 the 20-year-old was no stranger to winning silverware which saw him feature in 2023’s One Day Cup title winning campaign with World Sports Betting Western Province putting in top performances throughout.

Bayoumy commenting after getting his first professional contract, says it was a highly emotional moment for him and his family.

“Receiving my first professional contract feels amazing. It’s like a dream come true,” he said.

“Two years ago, when I earned my first pro cap, it was a highly emotional moment for me, filling my parents and family with immense pride. Since then, I’ve continued moving forward without any hesitation. However, I know that the real hard work starts now.”

“Upon hearing the news, immense joy filled my heart, and a sense of calm settled over my mind. Years ago, I would watch these players on TV, longing to meet them and perhaps even get a photo or signature. Fast forward to today, I find myself sharing the dressing room and field with these experienced players whom I’ve long admired.”

Featuring in 2023’s CSA One Day Cup once Bayoumy got into the starting XI he made an immediate impact with bat and ball which made him a key element in the chase for silverware.

“Lifting my first trophy was an incredible feeling, hearing about WP not winning silverware for a while and then having the chance to play in a home final after remaining unbeaten in the competition was special,” he adds.

“Being part of the winning team and contributing in any way, whether through wickets, runs, catches, or run outs, was an unbelievable experience. It was a moment of immense pride and satisfaction, knowing that our hard work had paid off and we had achieved something significant as a team.”
