Western Province stars honoured at CSA Awards after outstanding 2025/26 season

NEWLANDS – The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) has congratulated Western Province players following a stellar showing at the CSA Pathway and Professional Awards held at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday evening.

The prestigious awards ceremony, themed “Crowning Glory,” celebrated the country’s top cricketing talent, with Western Province players claiming seven accolades after an exceptional 2025/26 campaign.

Leading the way was Western Province Women batter Faye Tunnicliffe, who enjoyed a memorable evening after scooping the Hollywoodbets Pro20 Player of the Season and Hollywoodbets Pro Series Players’ Player of the Season awards. The prolific batter earned the recognition after making history by becoming the first woman to score more than 400 runs in a single domestic Pro20 season.

Western Province Women bowler Nosipho Vezi was rewarded for her outstanding performances with the Hollywoodbets Pro50 Player of the Season award, while rising star Mia Lalor claimed two honours after being named the Hollywoodbets Pro Series Newcomer of the Season and CSA Girls U16 Player of the Tournament.

The Boys in Blue were also recognised, with experienced left-arm spinner Kyle Simmonds receiving the SACA Men’s Most Valuable Player of the Year award following another consistent season with the ball.

On the international stage, all-rounder Kayla Reyneke capped off a breakthrough year by winning the International Women’s Newcomer of the Year award. Reyneke made her Proteas Women debut during the season and recently represented South Africa at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.

WPCA Chief Executive Officer Corrie van Zyl praised the players for their remarkable achievements: “As Western Province Cricket, we take immense pride in the remarkable achievements of our players at the CSA Pathway and Professional Awards,” said Van Zyl.

“To see our athletes recognised on both the domestic and international stages is a testament to their talent, dedication, and resilience. From record-breaking performances to breakthrough debuts, these honours reflect the strength of our cricketing pipeline and the culture of excellence we continue to build. We congratulate each of our award winners and nominees – they inspire us all and embody the future of Western Province and South African cricket.”
