NEWLANDS – The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) has congratulated its players following the announcement of the South African Men’s selection panel’s squads for the upcoming white-ball tour to Namibia, as well as the South Africa A series against Bangladesh A.

Western Province Men’s batter Tony de Zorzi has been named in the 15-player Proteas squad that will travel to Windhoek for a T20 International (T20I) Tri-Series involving South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The tri-series will take place at the Namibia Cricket Ground from 28 August to 6 September, with the Proteas set to face both hosts Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The South African squad will remain in Windhoek for a historic three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Namibia from 9 to 13 September.

The WPCA’s representation extends to the South Africa A squad, with Mihlali Mpongwana, Kyle Simmonds and Tshepo Moreki included for the upcoming assignment against Bangladesh A.

South Africa A will host Bangladesh A in a two-match four-day series from 23 August to 2 September, before the sides meet in a three-match one-day series from 6 to 12 September.

The four-day squad will assemble at the Centre of Excellence in Pretoria on 18 August to begin preparations for the unofficial Test series, with the opening match scheduled to get underway at the Tuks Oval on 23 August.

The selections represent another significant achievement for the Western Province Men’s programme, with the players continuing to make their mark at both domestic and international level.

WPCA CEO Corrie van Zyl said: “As Western Province Cricket, we are proud to see our players earning recognition at both Proteas and South Africa A level. These selections reflect the depth of talent within our programme and the commitment of our athletes to excel on the domestic and international stage. We congratulate Tony, Mihlali, Kyle and Tshepo on this achievement, which further strengthens the legacy of Western Province Cricket.”
