Betway SA20 Arrangements for Newlands Cricket Ground

Cape Town, 7th January 2023

Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) and Newlands Cricket Ground are pleased to announce the stadium arrangements for the upcoming Betway SA20 Tournament. The tournament commences on the 10th January 2023 with the highly anticipated local derby between MI Cape Town and the Paarl Royals, preceded by the opening ceremony.

Fixtures and Events at Newlands Cricket Ground:

Tuesday 10^th January – 16h00 – Betway SA20 Opening Ceremony

Tuesday 10^th January – 17h30 – MI Cape Town vs Paarl Royals

Friday 13^th January – 17h30 – MI Cape Town vs Durban Super Giants

Saturday 14^th January – 17h30 – MI Cape Town vs Joburg Super Kings

Wednesday 18^th January – 13h30 – MI Cape Town vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Monday 23^rd January – 17h30 – MI Cape Town vs Pretoria Capitals

Semi-Finals and Final Matches are dependent on Tournament results and will be announced later.

 

Please take note of the following arrangements:

Gates Open

Tuesday 10 January – 14h30 – (3 hours prior to start of match, to cater for the opening ceremony)

Friday 13^th, Saturday 14^th & Monday 23^rd January – 15h30 – (2 hours prior to start of match)

Wednesday 18^th January – 11h30 – (2 hours prior to start of match)

Road Closures:

10h00 – 22h00 on every match day

Campground Road will be closed from Mariendahl Avenue to Palmyra Road.

 

Parking and additional information

Groote Schuur High School Upper (accessed from Palmyra Road) all parking will be reserved, access will be by parking ticket only. Betway SA20 Accredited Media will park here on presentation of their accreditation.

Groote Schuur High School Lower/Vredenhof (accessed from Chalfont Road) will be reserved parking with very limited unreserved parking. The limited unreserved parking will be R50 per vehicle payable in cash on access.

Groote Schuur Primary School (accessed from Campground Road) – unreserved parking payable in cash on access.

Sans Souci Girls High School (accessed from Main Road (left turn only)) – unreserved parking payable in cash on access.

E Hailing services – There will be a dedicated, secure, drop off & collection point at the Newlands Swimming Pool

People with Disabilities – There is wheelchair access at gates 2 and 23. Please enquire at the gate for further information.

Parking for People with Disabilities – Newlands Cricket Ground regrets to announce that all Bays have already been allocated for the duration of the Betway SA20 Tournament

Cash Facilities – Please note there will be no ATM machines at the stadium.

Vendor Payments – Vendors do accept cash and card payments.

Prohibited Items

Prohibited items found by security outside the stadium at the bag search area will not be kept for spectators.
