Confidence high as WSB Western Province Men eye back-to-back wins

NEWLANDS – Confidence is high in the World Sports Betting Western Province Men’s camp after their commanding 84-run victory over the Momentum Multiply Titans at World Sports Betting Newlands on Sunday.

The weekend triumph lifted the Boys in Blue to fourth place in the CSA T20 Challenge standings, with nine points after four games.

However, the job is far from done as Rory Kleinveldt’s side now shifts focus to their next challenge – a clash against the Moothee Ram Tuskers at the Pietermaritzburg Oval. The match is scheduled to start at 13h00 and will be livestreamed via Cricket South Africa’s YouTube channel.

All-rounder Oliver Whitehead says the victory over the Titans was a turning point for the team – a confidence-boosting result that has re-energized the squad.

“The win against the Titans was massive for us, it really gave the whole team a lift,” said Whitehead. “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and to see that effort translate into such a strong performance was rewarding. “It reminded everyone what we’re capable of when we stick to our plans and play as a unit.”

The 20-year-old says Sunday’s victory has lifted the team’s confidence and created a positive atmosphere in the camp as they look forward to their next challenge against the Tuskers in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday.

“There’s a lot of belief in the changeroom right now; that win has built confidence and momentum going into the next game,” he said.

“We know the Tuskers are a tough side, especially at home, but the boys are up for it. The goal now is to keep building on that performance and carry the same energy and focus into Pietermaritzburg.”

The Boys in Blue have been further boosted by the return of several key players from national duties, including white-ball captain Kyle Simmonds, all-rounder George Linde, Abdallah Bayoumy, and Mbulelo Dube.
