Kyle Simmonds backs the Boys In Blue to dominate Dafabet Warriors at WSB Newlands

March 2026

NEWLANDS – World Sports Betting Western Province Men will be determined to make a strong statement on home soil when they host the Dafabet Warriors at World Sports Betting Newlands on Tuesday. The match gets underway at 13h00 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport TV.

The Boys in Blue will be eager to bounce back after suffering a narrow 15-runs defeat (DLS method) to DP World Lions in their opening 1 Day Cup fixture at DP World Wanderers on Saturday. Despite moments of promise, they were left frustrated and now have an opportunity to respond in front of their home supporters.

Left-arm spinner Kyle Simmonds is confident of building on the impressive form he showed in last season’s competition. Simmonds finished as joint top wicket-taker with 16 wickets at an outstanding average of 15.18 and a superb economy rate of 3.97. His best performance came at Newlands, where he produced remarkable figures of 4/21 to help secure a dominant seven-wicket victory over the North West Dragons.

“Last season, Kyle Verreynne, who was captain at the time, showed a lot of trust in me by giving me the ball in tough situations and high-pressure moments. That confidence meant a lot, and I’m preparing myself to step up again. For me, it’s about staying ready, backing my skills and taking it one game at a time,” said Simmonds.

“We’re feeling confident and well prepared going into tomorrow’s game at home. The work we’ve put thus far has been of high quality, and playing in front of our supporters always gives us that extra edge and motivation to perform.”

He added that if the team sticks to their plans, maintains discipline and builds solid partnerships, he is confident they can take control of the game and deliver a dominant performance against the Warriors.

“If we stick to our plans, stay disciplined and build solid partnerships, I believe we can really dominate and put in a strong performance against the Warriors,” he adds.
