Tell us how you came to be working at Newlands Cricket Ground?

I got involved with cricket when my eldest son started playing cricket at the age of 11 for Mitchells Plain CC. I started scoring for the team and worked my way up in becoming a provincial and international scorer. I made my debut in 2003 at Newlands as a Fieldspotter in the famous Newlands Test between SA and England.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Getting recognition from match officials or the stadium announcer for a job well done.

Many would argue that you have one of the most iconic work venues in South Africa, how do you go about appreciating Newlands Cricket Ground as your office?

Taking before and after pics from the time we arrive at Newlands.

Tell us something that not many people will know about you

My age I guess, people don’t always believe when I tell them my age. I’m a Nurse at Tafelsig Clinic in Mitchells Plain during the day, mother of 3 adult children and 1 grandson. Chairperson of Mitchells Plain CC.

What are some of your most memorable occasions at Newlands?

Scoring at the IPL that was hosted at Newlands and seeing the Bollywood actors in person.
