CSA T20 Challenge 2024: World Sports Betting Western Province v Gbets Rocks
October 2024
NEWLANDS – World Sports Betting Western Province opening batsman Eddie Moore says the team is optimistic as the Boys In Blue head to Potchefstroom on Friday.
Despite their round one fixture against Goldrush Boland being rained out at World Sports Betting Newlands on Sunday, Salieg Nackerdien’s charges are set to hunt their first victory of the 2024/25 T20 Challenge campaign.
Western Province visits Auto Investments Dragons at JP Marks Oval, with the match set to start at 18:00 followed by a Sunday clash against the Momentum Multiply Titans at SuperSport Park in Pretoria starting at 16:00.
The team is confident as they welcome the return of their Proteas players, George Linde, David Bedingham and Dane Paterson.
“A disappointing day, obviously, against Boland. Obviously, the weather didn’t play along, it would have been nice to get to the park and get our first game out of the way, but we can’t control that,” said Moore.
“The team is really positive at the moment. I think the guys are hitting the ball nicely and I think the bowlers are slowly but surely getting there.
“We have a strong squad, and we pose a great threat to other teams, and I believe we have what it takes to kickstart our campaign with a win.”
Moore has admitted playing at Dragons at JB Marks is not easy, but he believes Western Province is putting in hard work at training to come out tops on Friday.
“I think they’ve got something good going on there,” he said.
“So, it’ll definitely be a great challenge for us on their home turf. And obviously, they were fortunate enough to get the first game out of the way.
“As you know the fixture between the two teams is a mouth-watering one, we played them at Newlands in the ODI final, we will be looking to upset them in their backyard.”
Travelling Squad: Abdallah Bayoumy, Bongi Mfunelwa, Wesley Bedja, Dane Paterson, Mthiwekhaya Nabe, Beuran Hendricks (c), Kyle Simmonds, George Linde, Daniel Smith (VC/Wicketkeeper), Jono Bird, David Bedingham, Valentine Kitime, Eddie Moore, Mihlali Mpongwana,
