Mpongwana fifer on opening day in Paarl

After a brilliant performance in the first session, taking 5 wickets, the GbetsRocks managed to fight back with Pieter Malan (96), Shaun von Berg (47) and Hardus Viljoen (43) leading the charge, but it was Six Gun Grill WP’s Mpongwana’s 5/39 that had the last say, dismissing the Rocks for 267 just before the close of play on Day 1 of the Cape Derby at Boland Park on Friday.

Province batsmen Tony de Zorzi (4*) and Yaseen Vallie (1*) saw off the three overs before the close of play as to end Day 1 on 5/0 (3).
