Tony de Zorzi has been named as Captain of the Six Gun Grill Western Province squad for the CSA 1 Day Cup which begins tomorrow when the men from the Cape take on the North West Dragons in the opening encounter at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom from 13h00.
The tournament will be played in both Division One and Two in a round-robin format. All teams will play each other only once at home or away. The top two teams will go through to the final in their respective divisions. The Division One final is set to take place on Wednesday, 06 April 2022 at 13h00 and Division Two on Friday, 08 April 2022.
The squad will remain in Gauteng for their second match of the tournament, which is against the Imperial Lions at The Wanderers on Sunday.
Coach Salieg Nackerdien will be able to call on Proteas trio Kyle Verreynne, Zubayr Hamza and Wayne Parnell for the opening weekend of matches before they join up with the Proteas ODI squad for the Bangladesh series, whilst he will also have the experienced Richard Levi and Beuran Hendricks at his disposal.
There’s a first call-up to the squad for WP Academy batsman Lwando Tywaku whilst Aviwe Mgijima and Nandre Burger are not available for selection due to injury.
