SA u19 Women in Must-Win Scotland Encounter

January 2023

Willowmoore Park, Benoni, 16th January 2023

A gutsy display by the SA u19 Women’s team was not enough to see them through in their first match against India u19’s in Benoni on Saturday 14th.

WP’s Kayla Reyneke scored a valiant 11 (26b) before falling victim to senior Indian star Shafali Verma. Kayla provided good support to top SA batter Simone Lourens 61(44b,9×4,1×6) in a very good score of 166/5.

Verma then powered India to a 7-wicket win, plundering SA’s bowlers with a quick-fire 45 off only 16 balls. This provided the platform for fellow opener and Player of the Match Shweta Sehrawat (92*,57b,20×4) to see India through to a comfortable victory.
