NEWLANDS – World Sports Betting Western Province Men will be aiming to bounce back to winning ways when they host the North West Dragons on home soil at WSB Newlands on Tuesday, 14 October 2025.
After suffering back-to-back defeats in the 4-Day Series, the Boys in Blue will be determined to turn things around and get their season back on track in their third match of the campaign.
All-Rounder Mihlali Mpongwana remains positive and confident that the team will regain its momentum and bounce back strongly against the Dragons.
“Obviously it’s like a disappointing start to the season but with that being said, we’re only two games in and we still have other competitions as well,” said Mpongwana.
“The main focus now is the momentum leading up to the other formats, which is the T20 Challenge coming up.”
The team welcomes back captain Beuran Hendricks, who missed the clash against the DP World Lions due to a niggle. However, batter Eddie Moore remains sidelined after sustaining a left abductor tear during the first innings of that match.
Mpongwana says they won’t underestimate the Dragons and that WSB Western Province will come out strong, aiming to make it a competitive and exciting game.
“We’ve had a couple of days off now just to regroup and refresh the bodies and the spirits,” he said.
“Obviously the Dragons have been on form, two games, two wins. So, we’re going to try and make it a good game for us, especially since we are on home turf.
“We know they’re fresh, confidence is up, ours is still lacking – but we’re going to try and come as hard as we can and make it a good game.”
The match is scheduled to start at 10h00 and will be live streamed on Cricket South Africa’s YouTube channel.
