Western Province Girls U16 XI Triumph in Thrilling Super Over Against Lions U16

NEWLANDS – Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) proudly celebrates the outstanding performance of the Western Province Girls U16 XI, who clinched a dramatic victory over the Lions U16 team in a nail-biting Super Over finish.

The clash had everything – grit, tension, and a finish that will be remembered for years. Batting first, Western Province posted a competitive total of 107 for 9 in 20 overs, anchored by a determined knock from Hannah Constable (29 off 48 balls).

The Lions, however, were equally resolute. Chasing 108 for victory, they matched Western Province blow for blow. Nonhlanhla Danisa provided the spark for the Lions with a brisk 20 off just 15 deliveries, keeping hopes alive. When the dust settled after 20 overs, the scoreboard told the story of a deadlock—107 runs apiece.

With the match tied, the stage was set for a Super Over showdown. Western Province held their nerve, scoring 2 runs without loss, while restricting the Lions to just 1 run for 2 wickets, sealing a memorable win.
