Western Province ready for Christmas bonus against Dragons

NEWLANDS – Western Province will be looking to keep their winning momentum as they welcome the North West Dragons to Newlands Cricket Ground in the CSA 4-Day Series this coming Thursday 14-20 December 2023.

Fresh from victory against Momentum Multiply Titans, Province batsmen Eddie Moore believes the team will continue where they left off two weeks ago.

Moore thinks despite losing some key players to the national set-up, the team is still capable of challenging the dragons with some fresh blood coming into the squad.

“We’re looking forward to a good battle on the field. Our team is still looking really strong even though we have a few guys called up to the national set-up. We have a really good squad and we’re  looking forward to seeing what the younger players can produce on the field”.

“The team is in a good space coming off a really good win against the Titans. Hopefully we can take that momentum forward into this coming week” he added.

“Dragons are a newly formed team and with a few players coming from all over the country they’ve formed a strong squad. They’ve done a lot right to already have played in the One Day Cup final this year so we know what challenges lie ahead.

“Every game in the four-day series is important to us. One win puts you right back in the mix like it has in our game against Titans. And if we can get back-to-back wins, it will make us compete for the top spot.”

Moore believes the hard work he is putting at training on a daily basis is starting to pay off. Coming fresh off back to back hundreds in the CSA 4 Day Series he has made plenty of statements that he still has the hunger to be successful and drive Western Province into winning positions.

“Personally, what you can expect from me is pretty much the same. I take pride in my performances and really look forward to having another good run out for the team”.

“The team always comes first, and I think that’s what I’m looking forward to the most from the rest of the squad. Hopefully I can do my bit and perform my role to get the team over the line.

“I want to be consistent in my performances and hopefully my approach to the game can help put the team in stronger positions.

“I really wanted to come into the 4 Day squad and make a difference. I was fortunate enough to have started the campaign pretty decently, and hopefully, I can extend that run and contribute not only with runs but also with attitude and the hunger to succeed and make sure that we win games of cricket.

The match is set to start at 10am on Thursday 14 December. Catch the match live on the CSA YouTube page.
