WESTERN PROVINCE WOMEN READY FOR THE BATTLE AGAINST THE FIDELITY TITANS

NEWLANDS – Western Province Women assistant coach Vuyani Parafini has eyes on the prize when the team visits the Fidelity Titans at SuperSport Park this weekend.

Province will be looking to make back-to-back wins as they gear up for the strong challenge in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Professional Women’s Domestic League.

The two sides will kick off the weekend with the 1-Day Cup on Saturday and follow with the T20 Challenge on Sunday and on both days the matches are set to start at 10:00.

Parafini says winning comfortably at home against the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers has given the team a much-needed boost going to Pretoria.

“Winning at home against the Badgers two weeks ago was very big, we will take a lot of confidence from that weekend as we managed to do some things right. We are hoping that confidence will see us through the Titans,” said Parafini.

“Preparations have gone well in training and some middle practice at UWC this week. There are niggles here and there but nothing major in terms of injuries.

“The travelling squad to Pretoria has not been announced yet but we had our players from the emerging side at practice as well this week joining us.

“Titans are sitting above us on the One Day log and we expect them to be a difficult side to play but we have complete faith in our squad.”

Parafini says a win is all they will be fighting for this weekend.

“A win away would be great for us, especially against a quality side like the Titans,” he said.

“It will be a great match as always against them on their home turf.

“Ours is to get to Pretoria and put our best foot forward and win both days of the weekend. We know it will not be easy, but we believe in our squad and their work ethic and hard work.”
