It was a fight for provincial pride on Day Four of Cricket South Africa’s U19 Girls Tournament as Western Province displayed their dominance, earning a clean sweep of victories on Sunday, 19 November 2021.
In their first match against Limpopo, WP posted a total of 113/6, with Jemma Botha top scoring 46 (48) and Lilitha BakuBaku 27 (37). Limpopo fell short by scoring 82/6 in their innings, with Koketso Manyaga scoring 41 (32). WP beat Limpopo by 31 runs.
In their second game against KZN Inland, the Zululand side were put in to bat and posted 69/5. Sarah Barber scored 24 (25) for Inland and Sinelethu Yaso took two wickets for Western Province. WP responded by scoring 71/3 in 13.3overs, as Jada Jacobs top scored with seven 4s in her innings 40 (31).
KZN Inland won their earlier game against Easterns by 30 runs. Sarah Barber scored a magnificent 87 (65) with eleven 4s and two sixes in her stance at the crease for Inland, and also took two wickets. Maddison Landsman scored a quick-fire 48 (50) featuring seven fours, but it was not enough as Easterns ended on 85/7.
Northerns won both their matches on Day 4, with Eliz-Mari Marx displaying fine form throughout this tournament so far. They beat Border in their first encounter with Marx scoring 48 (28 deliveries) smashing five fours and three sixes in her innings. Kwanga Pinini scored 34 (35) with six fours, and Asakhe Nyovane added 33 in 25 deliveries for Border, but it was not enough as they ended on 138/4. In their second match, Northerns beat Limpopo by 3 runs in a closely contested match.
Gauteng maintained their winning form beating KZN Coastal and Easterns, respectively. KZN Coastal won their second match of the day against Kei.
North West also maintained their winning form as they beat Northern Cape and Mpumalanga. Elandri Janse van Rensburg playing her best with the bat in both matches for North West.
Emily Mange of Mpumalanga took a whopping 6-8 to take her team to victory against South Western Districts.
