WPCA launch ‘WP 4 Women’s Cricket’ Campaign
August 2020
Throughout Women’s Month, Western Province Cricket Association have been celebrating the amazing women who work for the organisation in a series of articles across their website and social media pages, and now, the organisation is proud to announce an all-year-round campaign called Western Province 4 Women’s Cricket (#WP4WC) where monies will be raised on a monthly basis for various women-related causes in need of funding.
The campaign will be led by the Western Province Women’s senior team who will serve as ambassadors and WP Women’s Coach Claire Terblanche is thrilled to be able to spearhead this campaign #WP4WC.
“The idea behind #WP4WC is such that we aim to strive to be servants of opportunity, opportunities to help one another in all areas and to do so on a continuous basis. I believe that the most powerful expression of strength as Women, resides in how we support each other together. I believe that as WP4WC, we are at our best when we serve others. Having this campaign on a long-term and continued basis, allows for our strengths to shine through and permeate to every Woman we come in to contact with. We are strong together but stronger still, with you. What better way to promote all our Women than having our #WP4WC forging ahead to promote and uplift our Women in sport.”
WPCA Brand and Sponsorship Manager David Brooke explained how the campaign will be rolled out. “We have partnered with a crowdfunding website www.sport4Change.co.za where we have a dedicated donations page, and will be supporting various organisations throughout the year. In the first fundraising campaign, we are raising money to support ‘IloveBoobies’. This organisation was founded in Cape Town in 2016 and raises funds to give rural South African women access to mobile health screening clinics across social, physical and economic barriers. Our aim is to raise money to purchase merchandise from ‘IloveBoobies’ because for every 5 pairs of socks sold, they screen 1 woman for breast cancer.”
WPCA Cricket Services Manager Clinton du Preez is looking forward to seeing the campaign grow from strength to strength. “At WP, we have such a strong team of women who are such amazing brand ambassadors for our organisation on and off the field. I’m excited to see this #WP4WC campaign take flight and grow into something truly special that can have a huge impact on some wonderful causes.”
WPCA interim President Ashraf Burns commented: “We are very proud to launch this #WP4WC campaign today and we trust that all members of the cricket family in Western Province will support it as one family. I want to thank all the wonderful women in our organisation for all their contributions to the game in Western Province and I am very proud that our WP Women’s team will be leading the charge on and off the field.”
