May 2025

NEWLANDS – Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) is mourning the passing of the esteemed cricket administrator, Brad Bing.

Bing, a former WPCA board member and son of late Fritz Bing, passed away on Thursday after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bing, who was also a Founder and Managing Director of Sporting Chance Development Foundation, established in 1990. Through his platform, he touched countless lives, using sport as a vehicle to inspire, educate and uplift communities. His passion, unwavering dedication, and boundless energy inspired all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His passing is a huge loss to cricket in the Western Province and beyond. A loyal servant of WP cricket, Brad came from a distinguished cricket family led by his father, Fritz Bing. His footprint, especially through his Foundation, will continue to impact the sport and the lives of many for years to come.

On behalf of Western Province Cricket, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Bing family and friends, as well as to the Claremont Cricket Club, assuring them of our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.

WPCA President Johannes Adams shared heartfelt messages with the Bing family: “Brad was more than a colleague; he was a friend and a passionate champion for the development of youth through sport. His contribution to Western Province Cricket and to South African communities through Sporting Chance was truly remarkable. We will miss his energy, vision, and the humanity he brought to everything he did.”
